The team at AHT Interiors (Ann, Allison & Raychel), along with many other interior designers and aficionados from around the globe, visited many manufacturers’ showrooms at the High Point Furnishings Market in October. We’ve already shared 6 of the hot interior design trends they spotted; today brings us to the 7th and final trend, Blending the Old with the New.
We have been successfully incorporating older, more traditional pieces with the introduction of newer, more transitional or contemporary pieces in our clients’ home for years. It was interesting to see this emerging as a very strong trend at this year’s market. One example would be to add a pair of host/hostess chairs in an upholstered fabric to give a fresh look to an old dining room ensemble. Another idea is to replace outdated lamps with some cleaner, more contemporary styles or to simply add a piece of abstract artwork to your existing interior. Take a look at one of our recent dining rooms designs for a great example of this trend:

While we always enjoy sharing the latest and greatest from the interior design and home furnishings industries, it bears repeating: not all trends work for everyone. We feel strongly about helping our clients create timeless and lasting interiors for their homes that they will enjoy for years to come.
