Today I am continuing my series outlining what I am seeing as the top interior design trends for 2016. If you missed last week’s trend, the first of the series, please check it out here.
Trend #2 is the use of Pastel Colors! The Pantone colors of the year for 2016 are Rose Quartz & Serenity. This is the first time that the group that predicts color trends for many industries has named not one but two shades for the year. Both of these colors evoke a sense of peace, harmony and tranquility. The warmer, pink-tinged tone of Rose Quartz balances with the cooler, blue-based shade of Serenity. They indicate a return to the basics and can create environments that are healing and nurturing.
Softer, pastel shades are prominent and can be seen reflected in women’s clothing lines as well. They pair well together with neutral colors such as gray, brown or shades of white for a very soothing effect.
