I saw some very striking and unusual ideas to liven up a bare wall in your home at the High Point Furnishings Market. Some of these arrangements would make an interesting change to the expected piece of framed artwork or mirror.
For instance, who would have thought of “objets d’art” designed to look (and feel!) like porcupine quills? Just be careful on where you place these prickly pieces.
I also like the idea of individual shelves for pieces from the sea such as starfish, shells or coral. What a great way to create a coastal living environment whether you have a place at the beach or in the city.
A colorful arrangement of different sizes and shapes of glass pieces designed to hang on the wall is also an interesting and creative way to give a bare wall some visual interest. Or if you prefer a more subdued, neutral style of interior decorating, try something like these porcelain flower-shaped wall hangings. The beauty of hanging many of these types of arrangements is NO LEVEL IS NEEDED. They are randomly placed with the idea of creating an overall balanced look without being perfectly symmetrical. Watch out my engineer and accountant friends… this may not be for you !
