Our empty-nester clients spend a lot of time in their keeping room. Their home was built in 1994, and the keeping room made broad use of reds and browns in its design. They were ready to update the room’s look without breaking the bank, and the team at AHT Interiors accepted that challenge!
First, we painted the walls in SW Neutral Ground #7568. After removing the dated gold fireplace insert, we had all of the cabinetry and brick surround lacquer painted in SW Alabaster #7008.
The hardwoods were in wonderful shape, so we simply added an updated rug with neutral colors to underpin the new color scheme of the room.
The new custom window treatments were hung high to add height to the room.
We made use of a sofa they already owned which was beautiful and in excellent condition. We then added stunning leather accent chairs that picked up other colors in the room; updated side tables and a coffee table completed the conversational area. We accessorized with soft, comfy pillows and a throw. The warm green shade from the curtains is reflected in the pillows and the table lamp as well as in a few of the other accessories.
We were so happy to find the gorgeous artwork we hung over the fireplace – it brings cohesiveness to the room and is very lovely to gaze at!
The shelves hold some of the family’s favorite pieces as well as a few additional accessories to help bring the entire look together.
The end result was a stylish room that looked larger and brighter while still feeling comfortable. Our clients were thrilled! What do you think about the makeover?
